flights to puerto vallarta
UNITED STATES to PUERTO VALLARTA
Flights run regularly into Puerto Vallarta (PVR) out of all major airports.
TIJUANA (SAN DIEGO AREA) to PUERTO VALLARTA
If you're traveling from the San Diego area, we highly recommend flying out of Tijuana. It’s usually more affordable and faster once you land in Mexico because you clear customs before your flight. The customs and security lines at Tijuana airport are also much shorter. Round-trip flights to Puerto Vallarta typically range from $100 to $200 USD, depending on when you book.
Keep in mind, you’ll need to purchase a Cross Border Express ticket (around $50 USD for a round trip) to cross into the airport from the U.S. side. We’ve done this many times, so if it’s your first time or you have any questions, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help! :)

transportation
UBERS
There are plenty of Ubers in Puerto Vallarta, and they usually arrive within a few minutes. They’re safe, reliable, and an easy way to get around town.
TAXIS
Taxis are available all over the city, including right outside the gate at the bottom of the hill from our venue. You’ll also find them in town and at most hotels. Taxis only take pesos, so keep some cash handy if you plan on using them. At the end of the night, we’ll have taxis waiting at the venue entrance to take you back to your hotel.
At the airport, taxis are always available and very safe. After you exit baggage claim, look for the person holding a yellow taxi sign—they’ll direct you to a window where you can pay. This is one of the few taxi services that accepts both cash and card.
Both Ubers and taxis are relatively inexpensive, so they’re great options for getting around.
CARS
With Ubers and taxis being so easy (and cheap) to use, you generally don’t need a rental. But if you’d rather have your own car, there are plenty of rental options at the airport and around town. Expect to pay around $35–$50 USD a day depending on the car and company.
FAQs
Where is the venue?
Our venue is in a gated community in Mismaloya, a beautiful coastal area about 40-45 minutes south of the airport / downtown Puerto Vallarta. Please plan for a little travel time if you’re staying in the city, but there are plenty of accommodations in Mismaloya. Please refer to our accommodation section for recommendations.
What is the best airport to fly into?
Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR)— it is about 40 minutes from Mismaloya.
Will there be a room block or discount code for hotels?
Puerto Vallarta has way too many amazing places to stay for us to pick just one so we’re giving you the freedom to choose. Check out our accommodations section for places to stay around the area at all different price points and vibes!
Do we need to rent a car?
In general, no. Please refer to our travel section.
Will there be events on multiple days?
Yes! We’ll kick things off with a welcome party the day before and wrap up with a fun gathering the day after. Details are still in the works, so stay tuned.
Are children included in wedding activities?
Our venue is built into a stunning Mexican cliffside with multiple flights of stairs, balconies, and an open pool with no fencing or security. Due to the safety of our vendors, other guests, and most importantly, your littles, our wedding ceremony and reception will be adults only. We have connections with multiple babysitters in the area. Please reach out to us or our wedding planner if you need a recommendation.
We'd love to have your children at the welcome party and the gathering the day after the reception so we can all celebrate together!
What is the dress code for the wedding?
More details to come, but expect to dress to impress.
What currency is used?
Mexican Pesos (MXN). You can take pesos out at any local ATM machine, but most places accept credit cards.
What is the weather like that time of year?
Warm, sunny, and tropical. Expect highs around 85°F, warm evenings in the 70s, and a little humidity that just makes the ocean feel even better. Perfect for beach dips, pool lounging, and sunset margs!
Is it safe to drink the water?
Stick to bottled or filtered water - consider it your excuse to sip on endless cocktails, fresh juices, and light beer instead. Most resorts will have you covered, but there are also plenty mercados where you can grab more.
